PARENT NEWSLETTER
Dear
Parents and Guardians,
As
you’ve noticed lately the weather is changing and the mornings are getting a
bit cooler each week. It is our hope though that all students will be able to
expend some of their morning energy by playing outside on the playgrounds prior
to the beginning of school each morning. Please remember to encourage your
students to dress appropriately so that they can enjoy their free time outside
and still stay warm. We will always have children play outside in the mornings
and at lunch time as long as the temperature is at least 32ºF.
In
addition, we need to keep reminding parents that visitors must sign-in and grab
a visitor’s pass from the office after 8:15 for the security of your children.
If you would like to volunteer in the classroom or on our campus, you must fill
out a volunteer application and wait to be cleared in order to come and
volunteer. Also, we still need to reduce the number of parents coming to lunch
because of space and safety problems we’ve been having. We please ask parents
to reduce the amount of days you visit the lunchroom for safety reasons, but
also to encourage independence in your child.

Language Testing And Winter Assessments
All Newlon Second Language Learners will be taking
the Assessing Comprehension and Communication in English State to State
(ACCESS) beginning Monday, January 11th through Tuesday, February 2nd,
2016. Please do whatever possible to
avoid scheduling appointments that would cause your student to be absent during
this time.
4th
grade Music program
Mark your calendars for the 4th grade
music program scheduled for December 17th at 6:00 pm in the Newlon
Auditorium. Students have been practicing hard every day and are excited to
perform for their friends and families.
Bullying behaviors at school
We
know that often times children react to many experiences they are a part of and
sometimes those reactions come out in the form of bullying. Some students have
reported that they feel uneasy at school when other students act in a way that
is uncomfortable for them. Please take time to talk with your children about
the expectations of them at school and how they should always treat their peers
with respect.

BOLETÍN DE DICIEMBRE PARA PADRES
Estimados Padres o Tutores,
Como usted ha notado últimamente el clima está
cambiando y las mañanas son cada vez un poco más frescas cada semana. Sin
embrago, esperamos que todos los estudiantes puedan usar parte de su energía
por la mañana jugando al aire libre en los patios de recreo antes del comienzo
de la escuela cada mañana. Por favor, recuerde que debe animar a sus
estudiantes a vestirse adecuadamente para que puedan disfrutar de su tiempo
libre fuera y aun así mantenerse caliente. Siempre vamos a tener a los
estudiantes jugando afuera en las mañanas y en la hora del almuerzo, siempre y
cuando la temperatura sea de al menos 32ºF.
Adicionalmente, necesitamos seguir recordándoles a los
padres que visitantes deben registrarse y agarrar un pase de visitante en la
oficina después de las 8:15 por la seguridad de sus niños. Si quisiera ser
voluntario en el salón o dentro de las instalaciones, debe llenar una
aplicación y esperar hasta que lo aclaren antes de que pueda ayudar. También,
necesitamos reducir la cantidad de padres que vienen a visitar durante lunch
por la razón de falta de espacio y seguridad que hemos tenido. Le pedimos por
favor a los padres que reduzcan la cantidad de días que vienen a visitar la
cafetería por la seguridad de los niños, pero también para fomentar independencia
en sus hijos.

Pruebas
de idioma &
evaluaciones de invierno
Todos los estudiantes de Newlon que hablan un segundo
idioma tomarán el examen de Comprensión y Comunicación en Inglés de Estado a
Estado (ACCESS) a partir del lunes, 11 de enero al martes, 02 de febrero del
2016. Por favor, haga todo lo posible por evitar hacer cualquier cita que cause
que su estudiante esté ausente durante este tiempo.
Programa musical de 4 grado
Marquen sus calendarios para
el programa musical de 4º grado programado para el 17 de diciembre a las 6:00
pm en el auditorio de Newlon. Los estudiantes han estado practicando duro todos
los días y están muy contentos de presentar para sus amigos y familias.
Comportamiento de intimidación en la escuela
Sabemos que muchas veces los niños reaccionan a muchas
experiencias en las que forman parte y en ocasiones esas reacciones pueden ser en forma de intimidación. Algunos
estudiantes han reportado que se sienten incómodos en la escuela cuando otros
estudiantes actúan de una manera que es incómodo para ellos. Por favor, tome
tiempo para hablar con sus hijos acerca de las expectativas de ellos en la
escuela y la forma en que siempre deben tratar a sus compañeros con respeto.
Asistencia escolar
Las investigaciones indican que hay una asociación muy
fuerte entre la asistencia escolar y las tasas de rendimiento. Muchas gracias
por hacer que su estudiante esté asistiendo a la escuela todos los días.
Recuerde que la única ausencia justificada sucede cuando un estudiante tiene
una nota de su médico.
